Scholarship iconWest Side Scholarships - 2012

Three types of scholarships are available to would-be/current college students from West Side. You can pick up an application in the church office or download below.

Scholarship applications must be completed and returned to the church office by Wednesday, April 11, 2012.

  • Virginia and Barrie Rice Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship was established in memory of Virginia Rice (1912-1974) and Barrie Rice (1902-1988), who were educators and longtime members of West Side Presbyterian Church.  Both taught in Seattle public schools and were very active in the leadership of the church, especially in Vacation Bible School and Session.  The endowment was given by their sons and daughter.
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must be a full-time student at a four-year Evangelical Christian college, graduate school or theological seminary, and must be a member active in the life of the church, or a young person active in the youth program.

  • Harvey Morey Memorial Bible School Scholarship - This scholarship was established in memory of Harvey L. Morey (1932-1999), who was active in many capacities at West Side, especially on the Missions Committee.  He believed everyone should experience a year of Bible courses in order to gain a solid Christian world view before entering college or the working world.  The endowment was given by his wife, sons and daughter.
This scholarship is provided to those who would like to have the thorough grounding of a Bible school education.  Any member of West Side or young person actively involved in the youth program, any missionary we sponsor or child of said missionary is eligible to apply.

  • Christian Education Loan/Grant - The purpose of the Loan/Grant is to encourage and enable an applicant to pursue an education and prepare for full-time Christian service.
Active members may apply.  Members outside the Seattle area may also be considered.  If applicant enters full-time service within one year of graduation, the loan is converted to a grant with no repayment obligation.  This application may be submitted throughout the year, but a minimum two-month processing time is necessary.
