Communion at West Side

A sacrament is a symbolic religious practice begun by Jesus himself, through which, in a mysterious way not fully understood by us, God actually touches us with his grace and Spirit. We celebrate two sacraments at West Side: Baptism and Communion.

Communion (also known as "The Lord's Supper" or, in Catholic tradition, "The Eucharist") was first celebrated by Jesus and his disciples the night before his crucifixion. While in some traditions communion is celebrated every time the congregation worships, at West Side we normally celebrate it at least once a month. We normally do this on certain Christian holy days and additionally on either the first or last Sunday of the month. Our communion is open to all baptized Christian believers, regardless of what church or denomination one belongs to.
