WOMEN'S CHRISTMAS BANQUET tickets will go on sale Sunday, November 6 for our annual dinner on Wednesday, December 7. Lynda Hurst, our pastor's secretary, will share a special Advent message, "A Joy to be Shared", at the conclusion of the evening. But first enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Dolores Latham with her expert team of chefs and be dazzled by the wonderful decorations created by Linda Jordan and her helpers. After dinner, Sandra Dahl will lead us in our traditional singing of carols in the Sanctuary as we prepare to hear Lynda's message. Tickets will be available November 13, November 20, and November 27 as well as during the week through the church office. The ticket price is $12 (scholarships available for partial or full ticket price) and any excess funds will go toward our Christmas Missions Fund.
CIRCLE LYDIA FALL MEETINGS - Time to mark your calendars for our fall meetings on the second Wednesdays - September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14 at 9:30am. Please watch the bulletin for locations. All women are invited to join us.
THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY - Come join a very friendly group of women as we study the Women of the Old Testament this fall. We’ll find that their lives are amazingly relevant and be reminded that the God they worshipped is the God who is eternally faithful to those who put their trust in him. We’ll see you at 9:30am in Lewis Hall on September 15th. Please call Pat Marshall** or Karen Schroedel** if you have any questions. Coffee and tea will be ready, of course. We’re looking forward to seeing you.
MONDAY EVENING WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – All women are welcome to join us on Monday evenings at 6:30pm, at the home of Joanna Martin**. Our current study is from Joanna Weaver's, "Having A Mary Heart in a Martha World." If you have any questions, please call Joanna**.
MENTORING - Would you like to have the friendship of an older or younger woman in your life? Would you like to be able to call a woman and ask her perspective as a Christian? West Side women have so much to offer one another and one of the best ways to make a new friend is through mentoring. If you would like to know more or are interested in mentoring, please contact Jan Neupert** or Elaine McMinn**
MOMS IN TOUCH PRAYER GROUP meets every Wednesday during the school year from 9:30-10:30am in Boppell Parlor to pray for our students and schools. You’re welcome to join us for this hour of prayer. You’re welcome to join us for this hour of prayer where we follow the guidelines of Moms In Touch International and pray for God to meet the needs of our kids. Visit www.momsintouch.org or contact Jill Campbell** with any questions.
MOPS - School is back in session and so is West Side MOPS! MOPS International is a faith-based non-profit organization. Local MOPS groups, like the one that meets at West Side, are communities that strive to meet the needs of every mom with children from birth through kindergarten. MOPS recognizes that urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be. MOPS groups can help!
After becoming aware of the great need to minister to women through retreats and mentoring, it was evident we needed more help and input from more women. In September 2004, a Women’s Ministry Board was formed, with Mary Packard as the chairwoman. Team members represent a large range of existing ministry groups from MOPS, long-established Circles, and Moms-in-Touch to Sunday School teachers, providing a broad representation. The team meets the 2nd Thursday of each month for planning and fellowship.
Activities coordinated by this team include the following:
