Larry and Andrea Ciccarelli

Larry and Andrea are with Wycliffe Bible Translators and lived for years in Arabic-speaking countries of the Middle East and North Africa. They currently live in Ottawa but continue their work to make Scripture more accessible to Muslims. They work with colleagues in forming venues for bridge-building and mutual understanding between Muslims and Christians, with the goal of the message of Christ entering the mainstream of Muslim societies.

They continue translating Scripture into Lebanese, Tunisian, and Algerian Arabic, and are finalizing Genesis and Exodus for dubbing onto The Covenant film. They oversee audio mixing and production for these languages and help create Scripture videos using the recording s. Alongside coworkers, they developed a mobile app for the True Meaning Arabic Bible and supported partners with other apps. They also provide consultant oversight for translations in Lebanese, Egyptian, Libyan, and Sudanese Arabic.

Andrea is writing her thesis for a second M.A. degree in Migration and Diaspora Studies. Larry has been taking a sabbatical since May. He was feeling burned out and needed to step back and get some perspective. Their daughter Amani, 21, is in her second year in the university and is currently doing an internship in Arabic language study in Tunisia. Daughter Shareen, 19, will enter the university in September.

Larry adds: “You will no doubt share our grief over the many civilians dying in attacks on Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and elsewhere. Your prayers for these people are so needed!”
